Luckily, it is very easy to spot, and also quite easy to treat, and prevent from happening again.
Symptoms
A goat with outer ear mites |
- Scratching ears with back hooves
- Rubbing or scratching head/ears on various objects (fences, ropes, buildings, etc)
- Hair loss on the ear and head area
- Visible Mites on or in the ears
Treatment
Mix equal parts:
- Mullen infused oil (Extra Virgin Olive Oil Based)
- Garlic Infused Oil (Extra Virgin Olive Oil Based)
- A couple capsules of Vitamine E to act as a preservative and to help in skin healing
To use: Apply 6-12 drops to the affected area of the earflap or ear canal. FLOODING THE EAR CANAL IS NOT NECESSARY AND MAY CAUSE AN INNER EAR INFECTION!
